100 kW Rental Diesel Generator for Honduras: Canopy and Handling Design

GOODWIND's 100 kW generator for a Honduras rental customer combines forklift handling, a reinforced base, stainless steel details and same-side access. The specified 60 Hz, 120/208 V configuration is intended for mining and remote emergency applications.

GOODWIND is preparing diesel generator sets for a rental customer in Honduras, with mining operations and emergency power in remote locations among the planned applications. The 100 kW configuration featured here brings together a Dongfeng Cummins engine, a sound-attenuated canopy and practical details for handling and maintenance. Project information provided by Lily, GOODWIND's Sales Director, highlights the customer's need to move equipment between jobs and operate it where space and access can be limited.

Project item Specified configuration
Destination and customer Honduras; rental operator
Generator output 100 kW
Engine Dongfeng Cummins 6BT5.9-G2
Frequency and speed 60 Hz; 1,800 rpm
Specified voltage 120/208 V: 120 V line-to-neutral and 208 V line-to-line
Alternator winding leads 12 leads; reconnection subject to the permitted configuration

Forklift access for repeated rental deployments

Rental equipment may need to be repositioned repeatedly during its working life. This generator has forklift pockets at the front and side of the base, giving the operator handling options when arranging transport or moving the unit within a yard. The base uses thicker structural material and additional reinforcing ribs to suit the handling requirements specified for this project.

Materials and enclosure details for outdoor work

The sound-attenuated canopy uses galvanized steel panels, with shot blasting specified as part of the fabrication process. Door locks and hinges are stainless steel. The base-mounted fuel tank incorporates a separate, removable stainless steel inner tank, making tank access and future maintenance part of the enclosure specification.

Mesh screens cover openings in the lower structure to help restrict rodent access to wiring. Sloped details at key locations are designed to shed rainwater. For rental operators, these features address practical exposure and maintenance concerns; site positioning, drainage and electrical connections still need to suit conditions at each location.

Controls, connections and refuelling on one side

The operating panel, electrical connection box and fuel filler are grouped on the same side of the canopy. This arrangement is intended to make routine tasks easier where working space is restricted. When planning a temporary installation, the operator can identify the main working side and preserve access to these points, while allowing the clearances needed for ventilation and servicing.

An internal light mounted near the top of the canopy assists inspection in low-light conditions. All door locks on this generator can be opened with one key, simplifying access for the person carrying out checks.

120/208 V output and controlled voltage reconnection

The specified 60 Hz configuration provides 120 V between a phase and neutral and 208 V between phases. Rental buyers should match these values to the equipment and distribution system at the intended site, alongside the load profile and required operating duty.

The 12-lead alternator provides scope for reconnection within the winding manufacturer's approved arrangements. As explained in the Cummins generator application manual, reconnectable alternators use winding connections to obtain supported output configurations. The voltages and output ratings available from this particular alternator must follow its data sheet and connection diagram. Qualified technicians should perform any reconnection and check the associated voltage regulation, controls and protection settings before operation.

Specify the rental application before finalising the canopy

This Honduras project illustrates how a diesel generator configuration can be developed around the customer's handling, access and electrical requirements. Buyers assessing similar equipment can also review GOODWIND's manufacturing and quality information when preparing their procurement questions.

For a rental fleet or a site with particular access constraints, contact GOODWIND with the required power, voltage, frequency, operating duty, expected loads and handling method. Include the available installation space and exposure conditions so the generator and sound-attenuated canopy specification can be discussed against the actual application.
